“AMAL” at Ramapo College

  • The Berrie Center 505 Ramapo Valley Rd. Mahwah, NJ (map)

In celebration of Puerto Rican Heritage Month and Veterans and Military Families Month, the Berrie Center is pleased to present the provocative theater piece “Amal.” “Amal” explores the search for meaning, purpose, and identity through enlisting in the military, as well as Puerto Rico’s cultural and military history. This powerful performance delves into the impact of war on both combatants and noncombatants as people of color, and shares experiences of veteran’s adjustment to life after war.

This performance is for mature audiences only. NOTE: Production uses strobe lights and there is a gunshot blast.

Funded in part by the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Theater Project, with lead funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and support from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
