“AMAL” at Ramapo College

In celebration of Puerto Rican Heritage Month and Veterans and Military Families Month, the Berrie Center is pleased to present the provocative theater piece “Amal.” “Amal” explores the search for meaning, purpose, and identity through enlisting in the military, as well as Puerto Rico’s cultural and military history. This powerful performance delves into the impact of war on both combatants and noncombatants as people of color, and shares experiences of veteran’s adjustment to life after war.

This performance is for mature audiences only. NOTE: Production uses strobe lights and there is a gunshot blast.

Funded in part by the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Theater Project, with lead funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and support from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

Miami Book Fair - Combat Hippies Present: AMAL

Catch us at "The Porch", the Miami Book Fair's outdoor venue, where we will be performing a stage reading of excerpts from our current production, AMAL, a theater/ spoken word piece that reveals the impact of war on combatants and noncombatants, and shares experiences of veterans’ adjustment to life after war, and those of civilians from war-torn countries.
